Boston is the capital city of Massachusetts. It is the main setting of the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series. It is also the cosmic center of the universe, making it overridden with Norse deities. According to Blitzen, ancient Vikings were constantly searching for America because they knew the universe's center was in it.

History & Politics

Boston was first settled in 1630 as a township, with the original name being Trimountaine (after the "three mountains" which occupied the area, only traces of which remain today). Its name was changed to Boston, in honor of the port town Boston, Lincolnshire, England (the renaming being by Puritans). In contrast with its roots of English Puritanism, modern Boston displays a strong Irish, Roman Catholic presence.

Politically, Boston is run by an elected Mayor and city council.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard

Boston is the most recurring setting in Midgard, appearing in all three books and This Is Why I Hate Clothes Shopping in 9 from the Nine Worlds.
