The Nico di Angelo Adventures
The Court of the Dead
Not long after Pirithous destroys the Mist by imprisoning hundreds of mythical creatures in a small enclosure, Dolus and Apete appear before the judge in Golden Gate Park. They introduce themselves as the god of truth and the goddess of honor. However, Laverna outs the twins on their lies and they chastise the goddess for serving a mortal as Pirithous orders his followers to get the secret weapon ready as he tries to convince the two to join his cause willingly. The two deities disintegrate Tantalus and Mary Tudor before sending Laverna away. However, before Pirithous is harmed, his secret weapon, a giant pair of shackles, is unleashed and the twins are imprisoned. They demand to be released as Pirithous explains that the chains were used to imprison Prometheus and that they will swear loyalty to him soon enough as Apate and Dolus scream in agony. After the Mist breaks, the two are confronted by Nico di Angelo and Hazel Levesque, who try and fail to free them with their swords. However, Nico's cacodemons, due to them technically being very minor gods, are able to gnaw through the Stygian Iron. After Hazel and Semele convince the twins not to double cross them, they are freed and restore the Mist. However, everyone is trapped in a personal illusion in the process. She and Dolus dance on a fountain as the chaos unfolds. After Nico and Semele convince them to focus their illusions on Pirithous. She and her brother take them and Will Solace to the judge after Hazel and Quinoa incapacitate him and take out his guards. Everyone gathers and, after Dolus and Apate convince Pirithous to release his followers, everyone discusses what to do with the judge as Hecate arrives. Everyone bows to the goddess of magic as Pirithous explains his actions to Hecate. Everyone stays quiet as the judge crawls to the rock and is fused with it before being sent to the Fields of Asphodel. Hecate compliments the twins, but interrupts them when they get close to stepping out of line. They watch as Hecate returns Semele to physical form. The twins leave as well as the campers and mythics take the train back.
Appearance
Apate is said to be breathtakingly beautiful with dark hair and eyes. She wears a red palla. She lacks feet. As noted by Laverna, Apate looks exactly like Aletheia, Goddess of Honesty, with the only difference that sets her apart is her feet.
Personalty
Much like her brother, Apate enjoys playing tricks and lying to others. She also enjoys disintegrating people.
Abilities
Apate has the standard powers of a goddess.
- Hallucikinesis: As the Goddess of Deception, Apate has the ability to create and control powerful illusions.
- Mist Control: As the Goddess of Deception, Apate is talented at using the Mist. Both she and her twin brother Dolus were able to restore the Mist after Pirithous destroyed it in Golden Gate Park. Their combined power is so great that it threatened to destroy Nico di Angelo's mind as he tried to approach them.
- Umbrakinesis (possibly): As one of Nyx's children, Apate can theoretically control and manipulate shadows.
